Some families know a great deal about their roots; others know very little. This site is an attempt to record what I've learned about our family history. In these modern times, families tend to be scattered all over the country, if not the world. One of the goals of this web site is to help our family stay connected even though we live far apart. On this page I'll provide a little information about what inspired me to do this research. Most of this information was probably obtained from talking to living relatives and from researching public records. In the course of doing this research, I've discovered that I have many more relatives than I ever thought possible! My father requested that I search for information on his father's side of the family on the internet. His father was murdered when my father was very young, so they learned very little about his extended family. In my innocence, I had no idea what a vast wealth of information would open up to me as I searched. I finally decided to work on both of my parents' family history. At present time I have over 10,000 pages of research, thousands of hours of research time, have met so many cousins that I am amazed still, and have had a wonderful exciting journey that will take the rest of my life to really complete. This is a work in progress, so please contact me if you have any information that might help round out the picture. I will try to document all my work for its authenticity. Sometimes that is not possible with family history, as much of it comes from mouth-to-mouth stories told by older family members. Those stories add so much to family history that I cannot leave them out. They may have to be taken with a grain of salt, as our memories change with age!!! But life is not static, it is always changing and there is no true picture of history anyway. Each country, each generation and each sex male and female view it differently. So enjoy! |
